Melissa J. Mason, LCSW-R,ÌýRYT, CRYT, has over 10 years of experience helping hundreds of children, adolescents and families impacted by violence and trauma. She holds a BA in Psychology and Health and Human Services from the University of New York at Buffalo, a Masters in Social Work from Syracuse University, is independently licensed in both Massachusetts and New York and has been extensively trained in the field of trauma, violence, chronic illness and disordered eating. Melissa completed her 200 hour RYT at South Boston Yoga and her child and adolescent yoga training (levels 1-3) in New York through Little Flower Yoga. Melissa has worked in medical, not for profit and school-based settings addressing issues of violence in the home, school and community. She has extensive experience providing individual, family and group therapy to preschool-aged children through adolescents utilizing mediums such as art, play, yoga and mindfulness. Melissa has acted as a private consultant to several agencies serving a diverse group of children and families and has provided clinical supervision to numerous Masters in Social Work students. She has served as a school-based evaluator providing observation, assessment and recommendations to teachers and administrators on practicing positive discipline, fostering the parent/teacher relationship, promoting social and emotional competence in young children and understanding the feelings behind challenging behaviors. Melissa has conducted numerous trainings geared to health care providers, school administrators, teachers, parents and clients.
